Download: Bad Rabbits - STICKUPKIDS EP

A while ago I wrote about the Bad Rabbits (read about them here) and basically how insanely awesome these dudes are. Well, I'm writing for you all to download their STICKUPKIDS EP for free. How can you  go wrong, these tunes will make you want to pump your fist and dance like the cast of Jersey Shore (not that Snooki's moves is actually dancing), but you get what I am saying.

Video: Mac Miller - "Knock Knock"

Mac Miller is taking over the rap game and Internet. He has tons of music videos for songs released on his mixtapes, and they are done really well. This one is a little different from his previous efforts, but still have a professional style.

Listen: Tennis - "Marathon"

If you have not heard of Tennis (the band) or the song "Marathon" you are in for a treat. The duo that consists of husband and wife, created one of the catchiest pop tunes I think I have heard in a long time. This is one of those songs with the wife's wonderful vocals over the organ and guitars, that you cannot help but enjoy. It has an old school feel, while doing something other bands are not.

Artist: Chris Webby

A few days a go I did a post to download Chris Webby's new mixtape Best In The Burbs. After listening to it a few times my self, I think the kid deserves his own artist profile. Chris Webby is one of the newest waves of rappers looking to bring hip hop back to the top. Lately, rap has been kicking back to life and it is about time.

Listen: The Notes - Wishing Well LP

The three-piece band from London called The Notes are making some noise. In fact, it is some garage/pop/indie/rock type noise that sounds really good. What also helps make the band stand apart from the rest, is the lead vocals have a female front, who shows she can lead just as good and better than the boys.

Video: Kanye West - "Monster" ft. Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, & Bon Iver

Finally, the long waited video featuring rap juggernauts has leaked. "Monster" is probably by far one of Kanye West's best collaboration songs. It is also Nicki Minaj's best lyrically out of any of her own songs, too bad she can't always spit like that.

Video: Mike Posner - "Drug Dealer Girl"

The one with the smooth, yet somewhat raspy voice Mike Posner had a big year in 2010. Having two hits off his debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff, Posner has become the next big thing in pop. Before he was this huge success, Posner had mixtapes and created videos while still attending Duke University that made there circulation on the Internet.

Listen: Rick Ross - "Play Your Part" ft. Wale, Meek Mill, & DA from Chester French

Rick Ross released his Ashes to Ashes mixtape last week as a Christmas gift to fans. I have always been on and off with Rick Ross, but this song is gold. Probably because two of my favorite rappers out now, Wale & Meek Mill, are featured on this track.

Artist: Minus the Bear

One band I discovered a few years ago and have become a fan ever since is Minus the Bear. The experimental/indie/rock band hails from Seattle and formed in 2001. Currently, they have released 4 albums and 4 EPs. Each with its own distinct sound, yet you can always tell it is Minus the Bear.

Listen: White House Band - "Grown-Ups"

A few weeks ago I did a feature on Brooklyn based White House Band. Plenty of people took interest in the post, especially finding out the blend of hip-hop and hard rock was pieced together so well.

Video: Graffiti6 - "Stare into the Sun"

Graffiti6 is a upcoming pop/rock band from London, only founded in 2008. Comprised of writer/producer/DJ TommyD and singer/songwriter Jamie Scott, they had worked on other musical endeavors, but made a collection of songs together. Those songs would be used in an ad campaign, which gave them a lot of exposure. They decided to work together more and released their music on their own label.

Listen: Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - "In Friends We Trust"

Quirky name eh? Nevertheless, the name is sometimes what can help draw new listeners. I'll admit when I saw the band name I had to check the inclination to click and find out more. Yet, the name does not make the music and the 5 piece band from Paris, France sure make some good, fun pop-punk. Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! is fairly new to the scene only forming in 2007, yet they create some all in their own.

MP3: Bright Eyes - "Shell Games"

Bright Eyes has been pretty quiet for some time now, leaving fans drooling for new music. Well, the time has come for Conor Oberst’s new album and first new track to be heard. "Shell Games" is the first song we get to hear from Bright Eyes, and it is a good one.

Video: Hugo - "99 Problems" (Jay-Z Cover)

The Ohio indie-rock band, The National, as come a long way since their 2001 debut album. They are now recognized as maybe one of the best indie-rock bands currently out in the music world. The National's newest album, High Violet, has been on many music lists top albums of 2010, and rightfully so.

Anarbor is a alternative/indie/rock group from Arizona. They have been making tunes since forming in 2003, and have since been signed to Hopeless Records while they were still in High School.

Artist: Sublime with Rome

After seeing Sublime with Rome live back in August I felt it was necessary to cover them. I also wanted to kind of get some things off my chest about this as well, as I have seen many arguments of Sublime with Rome. Now, any Sublime fan or even casual listener knows of lead singer Bradley Nowell's untimely death back in 1996 due to heroin overdose. This left remaining members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson to disband Sublime.

Listen: Consequence - "I'm V.I.P." ft. Diggy Simmons & Mac Miller

OSF's Best Songs of 2010

It is safe to say that 2010 was a good year for music, and 2011 is promising to be just as good. Now most top lists in the music blog world do 10, 50, or top 100. I decided to do a top 12 for two reasons. The first being that narrowing songs down to the top 10 was almost impossible for me. The second being, I do not have the time to go through a much larger list as I created this myself.

Listen: My Arcadia

Taking notes from Paramore and expanding the rock, My Arcadia is bringing their sound to your ears. Only forming a year and a half ago, the New York band is already generating buzz. Lead singer Jacqui Sandell has a perfect voice for the guitar driven sound and pop influences.

Artist: The Wonder Years

Many of you probably read The Wonder Years and automatically thought of a young Kevin Arnold chasing around the dreamy girl Winnie Cooper, but it is also the name of a pop/punk band from Philadelphia.

Video: Dev - "Booty Bounce"

Dev is a California singer who was discovered on MySpace and her song "Booty Bounce" was sampled in Far East Movement's huge hit "Like a G6."

Artist: Portugal. The Man

If you are into experimental-rock music or are looking for some new music to add to your collection and have not heard of Portugal. The Man, then you are welcome for this post. These guys have been around as a group for about 4-5 years, but within that time span have released 6 albums and 5 EP's. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Yet, what also makes it so impressive is that each album, is really good.

Download: Lerix - New Heights

A few weeks ago I featured an artist profile on rapper Lerix. The article was pretty popular for that week, and it deserved it. I have received plenty of emails of "rappers" and also found myself finding hundreds of MySpace pages of people looking to be then next rapstar.

Video: The Lonely Island - "I Just Had Sex" ft. Akon

The group composed of comedians Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg dominated that year, even reaching #13 on the US Billboard with their debut Incredibad.

It is so refreshing to find some good indie rock, and not that long ago I would be introduced to Scottish band, Frightened Rabbit. Initially the band started out with only guitarist/vocalist Scott Hutchinson performing as a solo artist. However, through the course of 2003, he added other members to form a more complete band.
