The Oxygen Ponies besides being a interesting name, make some good tunes. The brainchild of Paul Megna who makes pop/indie/folk music that is simply a great listen, also has a interesting story that almost ended his life. On his way to rehearse for a off-Broadway play, he was shot in the neck. The bullet still sits just centimeters from his jugular. Yet, this did not stop him from continuing his life and incorporating his emotions through music.
The band was formed after Megna taught himself how to play guitar during his recovery from the gunshot wound. The members of The Oxygen Ponies varies from album to album, which always makes for a intriguing sound. The new project called Exit Wounds was produced, recorded, and mostly engineered by Megna and features musical contributions from all sorts of great musicians. Listen to a few tracks below. The first track "Hollywood" is free to download, get it off the bandcamp page. The full album is available May 17.
