Throwback Album: Minus the Bear - Menos El Oso

I remember the first time I heard about Minus the Bear. I had no idea what to expect, but all I knew is I loved the band name. The first tune I ever heard by them was a gorgeous song called "Pachuca Sunrise." I became obsessed with that song, its one of my most played songs on iTunes.

Minus the Bear debuted in 2002 and hail from the talented city of Seattle, Washington. They make a blend of indie, rock, and experimental with captivating vocals. They have a style all of their own and anytime a song comes on I know if it is them instantly.

Menos El Oso dropped in 2005, but I don't think I heard the song until late 2006. Either way, it was a great discover for me. After I heard "Pachuca Sunrise" I went and instantly listened to the whole album. From start to finish I was impressed and have since become a huge fan of all their music. What I love about their songs the most is you can really get lost with the guitars and vocals; it's like an out of body experience. If you dig indie rock then this is an essential album

Standout tracks: "Pachuca Sunrise," "The Pig War," "Memphis & 53rd," "Hooray" and "Michio's Death Drive."
