Jazz and hip hop just work so well together and I think the combo lacks when it comes to more mainstream rap music. Sure there are plenty of underground rappers combining these genres, but my hope is that the young and talented group of young people called Kids These Days can bring it to light. Featuring live instrumentation that includes a brass section, drums, and more, they have been getting some attention lately for their intense sound and fresh rapping, like here where they re-imagine Kanye West's "Flashing Lights." Their version has new lyrics and of course a different arrangement, but it actually sounds more intense, this is a great way to end the week. Listen and download below.
