Yup, I've slacked heavy on this feature for Fridays. So much so that I have a collection of over 30 submissions, to which I do apologize to all those bands reaching out. I'm going through them as I write this. Anyway, got some interesting music from a band called The Choo Choo Trains, learn a bit about them below.
Who: The Choo Choo Trains, and the members are Veronica (guitar, vocals, piano), Catherine (bass, piano, backing vocals), Emma (drums, percussion).
What: Lo-fi, tropical, country-soul pop.
Where: London, UK. From Hurdal, Norway and Nottingham and Essex, UK.
When: Together since 2010
Why: Because it feels so good!
Biggest moment: Playing with the Television Personalities in Manchester and finding each other.
Releases: "The Choo Choo Trains" cassette album on own label Meat'n'Tatty Tapes. Also available as download on bandcamp. Have also been included on compilations by Sincerely, California.
Influenced by: Nature, singing men like Lou Reed, Townes Van Zandt, Jonathan Richman and Serge Gainsbourg, church music and hymns, tropical islands, doo wop, Blur and Damon Albarn, Television Personalities + a lot more.
