Big Boi's new album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors will be out December 11th and will feature “Mama Told Me,” but it won’t be this version with Little Dragon. Instead, Kelly Rowland will be handling vocals in replace, but there was a reason for the switch:
The Flush-produced “Mama Told Me” first made a splash this summer when OutKast’s Big Boi performed the song live with Little Dragon in Austin. However, a later leak featured Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland on the hook and bridge instead of the Swedish pop darlings—leaving everyone to wonder what the heck happened. Citing “business terms out of our control,” the ’80s funk ditty on Big Boi’s album will feature Rowland when his Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors drops on Tuesday, but it’s Little Dragon who will perform with him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight. Good to see business not getting in the way of friendship and even better to hear the Little Dragon version, which was released by Big Boi today.
But now we have The Flush produced track with Little Dragon for streaming and to download, so enjoy.
