It's weird sometimes how it takes only one song for people to really research into you as an artist when you might have been grinding, but when it happens, take full advantage of that moment. The music industry has gotten easier in a sense with the Internet, but also has gone to shit as well. Rather then diving into more details, I'd rather talk about Mikky Ekko's amazing, and possibly one of the best tracks of 2012, "Pull Me Down."
The Louisiana native has been grinding since about 2009 and was making some great music even then, but as with some many artists you need to find a way to get people's attention. It's not to say that early music didn't have its flaws, but the amount of potential in the singer/songwriter was there, but then just a few months ago he released the perfect "Pull Me Down" with production from Clams Casino. The R&B influence, but pop heavy track has the right feel and sound that not only helped Mikky reach a new audience and generate buzz, but really proved that potential he had 2-3 years back was certainly there. I instantly was in love with the track not only for Clams chill and layered pop beat, but Ekko's lyrics and great vocals that had me singing along in no time. If there is one track you have on repeat or near the top (if not the top) of your favorite songs of 2012, it should be "Pull Me Down."
