Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power, came back with a vengeance with last year's Sun, one of my favorite albums of 2012. On that album, she basically addressed her songs to the whole human race and, despite how ambitious that sounds, it worked really, really well. The poppy, chill "Manhattan" was definitely one of my favorites on the album and now there's a really great visual to go along with it.
In the video for the song, Marshall is dancing around and interacting with the beautiful, crazy city that we all know and either love or hate. I am enjoying this video because I actually just went to Manhattan myself for the very first time a couple months ago, and I feel like it really captures the feeling of awe and excitement that I, and probably most people, have on their first encounter with the city. I can't wait to go back to NYC and this video just reminded me of why. It's a great, heartfelt tribute to the city and just another example of why Cat Power is an awesome artist.
