Chance The Rapper & Social Experiment - "I Am Very Very Lonely"

Chance the Rapper is back with his Social Experiment band for a track called "I Am Very Very Lonely." He's recently coming off a hospital visit and having to cancel some shows, but he seems to be getting back on his feet. Now, just a few minutes ago he released this and the plays are already racking up, which shows how much interest Chance creates when it comes to his music. This is a soft and soulful track, finding him crooning a bit and of course featuring his signature noises and adlibs. Stream below.

Dream Koala – “Saturn Boy”

New Dream Koala song

It's been awhile since we got something new from Dream Koala, but he has returned with a new song called "Saturn Boy." This will be on a five-track EP entitled Earth.Home.Destroyed. He's continued to impress with is indie and experimental sound, and here he continues that with a bit more soul in his voice. It's the type of track you close your eyes to and let the chill sound consume you. Deep huh? But in all seriousness this might be one of my favorite tracks of his to date.

XO – “Holdin’ On” ft. RobLaw

XO and RobLaw

The R&B and soul sounds really compliment electronic music quite well. British producer XO teamed up with RobLaw to bring you another stellar blend of those genres in the B-side track to "What's Luv?" called "Holdin' On." The soulful vocals of RobLaw set up the beat well and even though this is B-side, it's still better than what some people put out as the main track.  Mellow out to this song below.

Cheerleader - "Perfect Vision"

New song from Cheerleader

It's a hardcore rainy day here in Pennsylvania, so I needed something with a bit of energy and upbeat style to bring me into a better mood. This is where Philly quintet electro-pop band Cheerleader and their most recent song, "Perfect Vision" come in. Right from the beginning it has this upbeat dance vibe and continues to keep you hooked from the start. It's the overall groove that gets you in a more positive mood and I am interested in hearing more from these guys soon.

Limited edition vinyl single "Perfect Vision" / "Waiting, Waiting" released in the UK on June 16 via Young & Lost / Bright Antenna. Available for worldwide digital download on April 28

Ta-Ku x Mr. Carmack – "Miss You Most (At Night)"

Both producers Ta-Ku and Mr. Carmack have let their followers know they were working on some material together. Now we finally have that track, which is called "Miss You Most (At Night)." It's crazy when different artists or producers work together as the creativity can reach new levels. What's funny about this song is how it came about. As mentioned on Mr. Carmack's Soundcloud:
"A simple song that started out as a great experimental beat, then turned into an early morning "joke" track, then turned into an actual attempt at a song, then turned into one of the best collaborative experiences I've had to date. The whole process spanned across the past two weeks. viva taku! thank you for the inspiration to complete this"

Vic Mensa - "Down On My Luck"

Chicago emcee Vic Mensa has a bright future ahead of him and on his latest called "Down On My Luck," we get to hear just how versatile he is. It's actually quite different from the hip hop bangers and he jumps on an upbeat eletronic type of sound with a bit of house mixed in. He actually is doing more singing than rapping, but its actually pretty impressive. Sure it's different but if you keep an open mind about this it's actually really enjoyable. Stream it below.

Download Mt. Olympus from Big K.R.I.T.

I actually have not followed up too much on Big K.R.I.T. lately, but he recently released a new song called "Mt. Olympus," which he as usual also produced. The song is pretty intense but we find the Mississippi native flowing about his frustrations with hip hop and the fans of the genre. Listen closely because K.R.I.T. goes in on this one and speaks what's on his mind. You can stream and download the song below. Also, he'll be releasing a new record in Fall called Cadillactica.

Ellie Goulding - "Beating Heart" (Dexcell Remix)

If you didn't know, I'm absolutely in love with British singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding. I know I'm not the only one, but something about her look and velvet vocals that captivate you. It also makes her a perfect candidate for remixes, which there are plenty of. Yet, the most recent remix is by Dexcell who took on her track "Beating Heart."Again, it keeps those beautiful vocals flowing, but the drum and bass trio mix it up and do a phenomenal job. So much so, that Ellie fully endorses this remix. Stream below.

G-Eazy - "Let's Get Lost" (ft. Devon Baldwin)

G-Eazy, Let's Get Lost

This is a big year for G-Eazy, who is the next rapper doing big things without a major label and has gain significant popularity since we first started sharing his music back in 2011. He will also be releasing his new album, These Things Happen, at the end of June. Yet, while we wait for that to be released, G released a new track featuring frequent collaborator Devon Baldwin called "Let's Get Lost." Here, he slows things down for a really chilled tune, plus those vocals on the hook from Baldwin just top this off. It's amazing how every song G-Eazy releases is as solid as the last.

Banks – “Goddess”

New song "Goddess" from Banks

BANKS is currently gearing up for her debut album, which is long overdue. To get you guys ready, she released another song called "Goddess" produced by Lil Silva, who she has worked with previously. This is also the title track of her album and takes on the form of a girl who while hurt, isn't letting it get to her because you messed up your chance with the best. It oozes confidence and it's what we've come to enjoy about her music. The pop vocals are the right style for the somewhat R&B and electronic production. Stream below and be ready for her debut out in September.

Jacques Greene – "Feel What"

Electronic artist Jacques Greene just released his new EP called Phantom Vibrate and popped the track "Feel What" on his Soundcloud to be streamed. While this would fit in the electronic genre, you also here plenty of house elements and some R&B infused into it. It even takes on some experimental undertones and is exactly the type of sound I love about the genre. You can stream the track below and if you are feeling this, definitely check out the EP.

Sango has become somewhat of a producing phenomena in the last few months, so much so that when he is on production with a different artist, you pay attention to why. He's linked up again with rapper Waldo and the pair definitely make a good duo in hip hop. It's got this nice and hazed out beat that works brilliantly around Waldo, who tells a story of being in love and some things happen along the way throughout the track. Pay attention to the lyrics and you'll hear why Waldo is one to watch.

Devonté Hynes – “Palo Alto”

Dev Hynes Palo Alto

One thing I like about Dev Hynes is that he seems to have talents in many forms within music and can release it under his full name, as Blood Orange, or for others and it will still be fascinating work. The latest called "Palo Alto" is an original song for the upcoming movie of the same name from James Franco and director Gia Coppola. He has contributed two songs total to this soundtrack, but you are able to preview this one now before the album release on June 3rd. It's a short tune, clocking in under 3 minutes but it's got this captivating atmosphere about it right from the start.

Hucci - "ATL"

New song from Hucci called "ATL"

UK trap producer Hucci has returned with a new track called "ATL," which is a celebratory song of his experience performing at Atlanta's Counterpoint Festival the other night. It's also a nice tribute to the city as well. On here you might recognize some lyrics and vocals as he sample not only Drake, but also Philly rapper Meek Mill. He then added some bass, electronic, and some of his classic trap elements. It's also a bit mellow compared to most of Hucci's collection, but still a nice track. Stream below.

You can also find it on King Deco's most recent debut mini EP Tigris

This remix has a mellow vibe through out, mixing in R&B, soul, and electronic. The right kind of track for a relaxing Sunday evening.

The 1975 – “Settle Down” (Young Ruffian Remix)

The 1975 gets remixed by Young Ruffian

While there have been plenty of remixes of The 1975 and their indie/alt sound, the band themselves haven't really endorsed many of them. Yet, their song "Settle Down" gets the remix treatment form German native Young Ruffian, who really doesn't have a ton of material out to the public yet. However, if this is an indication of what is to come, then I'm in full support. He created a really mellow and chilled electronic backdrop that fits those vocals well, which they almost sound quite haunting (in a good way) over the beat. Stream and download the remix below.

COLLEGE RADIO PICK OF THE WEEK - PORTUGAL. THE MAN

This week's submission from KSDB The Wildcat is the College Radio Pick of the Week for reasons far beyond the quality of the track. In reality, the actual "audio quality" of the recording is fairly poor. This is because there is no official digital version, and anything online has been pulled off one of only 400 vinyl records that exist.

The track, "Sumatran Tiger" by Portugal. The Man, was sent out to a carefully selected group of actors, activists, artists, biologists and other similar influencers. 400 records for the 400 Sumatran Tigers that are left in this world. Recipients of the track are encouraged to reproduce and share the music along with the message. Eventually, the original 400 will be gone.

The track itself is beautifully ominous. The composition of instruments along with the smooth vocals, both becoming stronger throughout the song, provide an instantly addictive experience. The degree of quality varies, but below is one of the better recordings out there put to a video that promotes their cause.

COLLEGE RADIO PICK OF THE WEEK!

KCR out of San Diego State is bringing it with back to back picks! Their submission, "Nevermind the End" by Brooklyn-based, Tei Shi, is this week's Pick of the Week.

The production of the song is reminiscent of Phantogram, but the addition of Tei Shi's voice gives the it its own tranquil and unique flavor. Similar to the sound of her music, there is something very twisted and raw in this video, yet balanced with a subtle beauty. It's easy to be drawn in by the dark undertow of the track, but this video entices the listener and then lets things get a little weird...
